Weekend Wisdom: Coming Home

I think you travel to search and you come back home to find yourself there. -Chimamanda Adichie

The journey to find ourselves is often enhanced by leaving what is familiar. Traveling, moving, seeking are processes that can help us to get to know ourselves better. Different surroundings and challenges allow us to see ourselves in a different light. Undiscovered parts of ourselves and our potentialities can emerge. However, it is ultimately in connection where we most find our wholeness. Coming "home" is about reconnection to that which roots and affirms the essence of who we are. For some this may be family or the place we grew up. But this is not always the only place where home is powerfully felt. Coming home may be connecting to the natural world, to our cultural heritage, to a soul-mate, or to God/Spirit. It is a place that brings you back to yourself, that reconnects you to the soul of who you are, your interconnected aliveness. May we all find our way home.

With Peace, Love, and Soulfulness,

Dr. Shelly Harrell
