Weekend Wisdom: Walk Your Own Way

I have the nerve to walk on my own way, however hard, in my search for reality, rather than climb upon the rattling wagon of wishful illusions. -Zora Neale Hurston

Wishful illusions are tempting. They can bring the comfort of seeing what we want to see. Sometimes we don't even know that we are on that wagon train of illusions. And often there are others on that wagon with us, validating them. Getting off and walking our own way can be hard. As Hurston says, it takes "nerve". Some questions to ponder. Are you able to recognize a wagon of illusions that you may have climbed on? Do you have the nerve to get off? What can support you to walk your own way?

With Peace, Love, and Soulfulness,

Dr. Shelly Harrell
